Health

Throughout the year, we organise various events (often linked to our charitable activities) to encourage physical workouts. These include running, cycling, walking, fishing, football, softball and golfing activities.

Since the majority of our projects are in central London and often our consultants and clients’ offices are in the London vicinity, we encourage all staff to walk or cycle as much as possible between our projects, our headquarters in the West End, and other meetings they attend throughout the capital, rather than travelling by tube or taxi. All Knight Harwood staff have access to two Brompton bikes, located in our HQ, to further enable this.

Safety

Safety is paramount in everything we do. We understand that ensuring the wellbeing of our workers and stakeholders is not only a moral obligation but also a fundamental aspect of successful project execution. To support this commitment, Knight Harwood employs chartered in-house health and safety professionals who regularly monitor our projects.

We prioritise safety at every stage of the build process from planning to project completion by implementing robust policies and procedures to mitigate risks effectively. At Knight Harwood, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety excellence, where every individual plays a vital role in creating a safe work environment.

Wellbeing

We are committed to creating a positive and supportive culture where people feel valued and able to thrive. We recognise that wellbeing extends beyond the workplace and plays an important role in the success of our projects and the strength of our teams. Through fitness initiatives, social activities and access to dedicated support, we encourage healthier lifestyles and create opportunities for people to connect.

To encourage open communication across our teams, we organise regular social events throughout the year, bringing colleagues together in a relaxed environment outside of work. Supporting mental wellbeing is equally important, which is why Knight Harwood has a growing network of Mental Health First Aiders across the business. Acting as confidential points of contact, they help raise awareness, encourage open conversations and support colleagues in accessing professional guidance when needed.

Our certification

Our integrated Health, Safety and Environmental Management System is independently audited by the British Standards Institution (BSI) twice a year, ensuring robust processes and continual improvement across our operations. We are certified to ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management.

We are also accredited by SafeContractor, a nationally recognised scheme that demonstrates our commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance and risk management throughout our business and supply chain.
