20 years of defining projects – BAFTA

Celebrating 20 years of Knight Harwood gives us the opportunity to revisit projects that combine heritage, amazing craftsmanship, and excellence. One such project is the comprehensive refurbishment and expansion of BAFTA’s Grade II listed headquarters at Piccadilly.

This was a project of exceptional care and ambition. It included the restoration and reintegration of two large Victorian rooflights and decorative plasterwork, creating a new top-floor members’ area. These stunning features, hidden for 50 years, were brought back to their original grandeur.

Alongside this, the 227-seat Princess Anne Theatre was upgraded to deliver an unparalleled theatre experience, complemented by a new 43-seater cinema, both equipped with state-of-the-art audio technology.

Every element was designed to enhance BAFTA’s mission:

Restored architectural details preserve the building’s historic character.

New and upgraded performance spaces strengthen BAFTA’s position as a centre of excellence for the motion and picture arts.

Improved facilities generate additional revenue, supporting the long-term sustainability of the charity.

The result is a rejuvenated headquarters that honours BAFTA’s heritage while providing world-class spaces for members and visitors alike.
